Nina Beier was born in 1975 in Denmark and studied at the Royal College of Art, London. Now based in New York and Berlin, she extracts objects from their circumscribed setting to expose their layers of historical, cultural and social information. Beier has been awarded the Prize of the Böttcherstraße, and her work was included in 13th Biennale de Lyon. In 2016, her art was featured in the 20th Biennale of Sydney and will be featured in “Question the Wall Itself” at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis.
Beier has had one-person exhibitions at the Kunstverein in Hamburg; David Roberts Art Foundation, London; Objectif Exhibitions, Antwerp; Kunsthaus Glarus, Switzerland; Nottingham Contemporary, UK; Mostyn, Llandudno, UK; Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco.
